About this studio

Estilo Dance Studio has been celebrating 20 years of Latin dancing in Philadelphia. Founded by Michael Andino in 2006, the studio now operates from two locations: the main Fishtown studio at 2036 Frankford Ave and an Old City location inside Brasil's Nightclub on Chestnut Street.

Michael Andino is the founder and lead instructor. Born in Manhattan and raised in Ecuador before returning to the New York area, he was first introduced to salsa in 2000 while studying history at Rowan University. What began as a hobby quickly became a passion, and by 2001 he was performing and teaching. He earned a reputation as one of the East Coast's finest dancers, known for his gentle lead, smooth movements, unique styling and shines. In 2004, he became a founding member of Art in Motion Latin Dancers and launched the children's group Kids Con Estilo. Michael welcomes students from 5 to 85 and is well known for helping beginner-level dancers feel comfortable and confident, often giving instructions in Spanish.

The studio teaches salsa, bachata, mambo (On2), and cha-cha-cha. Adult group classes run Monday through Saturday across multiple levels—Intro, Advanced Beginner, and Intermediate—with most classes running 6:30–8:30 pm on weekdays. A new "Centered with Brittany" class on Saturdays focuses on smoother movement, balance, control and connection for Advanced Beginner and above dancers with no partner required. Private lessons are available for singles, couples and small groups, taught by appointment. The studio also offers workshops and speciality events.

Estilo Kids runs a structured youth programme with age-appropriate classes from Minis (ages 3–5) through Teens (ages 14–18). Kids classes blend ballet, lyrical, salsa and bachata technique. Participation includes class uniforms and performance costumes, and teen students gain unlimited access to weekly adult salsa and bachata classes with partnerwork.

As a performer and promoter, Michael travels extensively teaching private and group lessons from Princeton and Trenton to Delaware and Bucks County. He appears at salsa events and congresses locally and internationally, and energises the local scene through weekly and monthly events at venues including Lucha Cartel, Brasil's nightclub, and Lucky Strike.
