Anyone Can Dance Studio

Anyone Can Dance Studio is a private ballroom dance instruction studio run by Michele, who has spent over 30 years teaching dance. She established the original "Dance in Boston" in 2001 after a decade studying under world champions, and relocated to Virginia Beach to bring the same approach to a new community. The studio specializes in wedding first dances, but also teaches students learning purely for enjoyment and those working toward advanced levels.

What sets this studio apart is its completely private model: when you book a lesson, you are the only people in the studio. There is no sharing the dance floor, stereo system, or instructor time with other couples or their teachers—something Michele notes is "extremely unusual" in the dance instruction world. Each lesson is a full hour long and includes scheduling your next appointment. Michele is always your instructor; you never rotate through different teachers.

The studio teaches Waltz, Cha Cha, Salsa, Two-Step, Free-Style, and what they call "Faux Dancing™"—a style for couples who want to move together to music with spins and dips but without worrying about footwork. Michele helps students choose which style suits their song, personality, and goals. The philosophy centers on uncovering latent dance ability: the studio believes that rhythm and the ability to dance are learned skills, not innate talents, and that the right teaching can bring out potential students don't know they have.

The atmosphere is informal and relaxed, with fun as the priority. Many couples use their lesson night as a date night—dancing and then dinner together. The studio is equipped to assist with technical song preparation (speeding up or slowing down tracks without affecting pitch, for example). Michele has worked with numerous wedding couples and their bands to ensure music timing works on the day. The studio welcomes all communities, including LGBTQIA2S+ couples.

Arrive wearing comfortable clothing that lets you move freely—workout clothes, a party dress, or a tuxedo all work. You can wear shoes that haven't been worn outside, socks, or go barefoot. Michele will discuss what you want to achieve, whether it's a wedding first dance or learning for fun, and help you choose a dance style that fits your song and personality. The entire hour will focus on you alone in a private studio with no other couples or distracting music.
