About this studio
M2tango Studio teaches Argentine tango in Copenhagen at two locations: København Danser Studios (Nygårdsvej 5) and Tango Urquiza (Øster Farimagsgade 16B). The studio offers group classes, private lessons, and regular social events including milongas, practicas, and themed workshops.
Classes are structured by level: Begynder (Beginner), Letøvet (Intermediate), Øvet (Experienced), and Avanceret (Advanced). All group classes begin with a warm-up described as an "overgangsritual" to settle mind and body, followed by themed instruction with repetition of previous material, a mid-lesson break, and a final practice section. Group classes typically run for 8–11 sessions per season, with a maximum of 13 pairs per class to ensure personal feedback. You can attend with or without a partner; the studio works to maintain equal numbers of leaders and followers. Partner rotation during class is standard to support learning and community, though you can request to keep the same partner if preferred.
Private lessons are available for one person or couples, tailored to your level and pace, covering technique, balance, flow, embrace, or performance overview. Technical classes also run on Fridays for both leaders and followers.
The studio runs regular Saturday Guided Practicas (15:30–17:00) where a teacher is present to help with specific steps or figures. Beginner-friendly milongas and seasonal events are held throughout the year. Twice yearly, M2tango hosts Den Lille Festival, a 3-day event with workshops, seminars, meals, tango shows, and DJs. Summer intensive courses run in multiple themes for different levels. The studio also invites international tango artists for workshops and performances.
Instructors include Martin Nymann Pederdsen (owner and instructor), Audrey Cremoux, Berna Dilek, Eva Lehrmann, Nassia Boulakou, Josefine Pallavicini, Rasmus Schæffer Christensen, and Ruben Ostan Vejrup. Teaching philosophy emphasizes tango as a language between two bodies, focusing on listening, connection, and presence rather than steps alone. The atmosphere is described as respectful, warm, fun, and inclusive.
What to expect
Your first visit
On your first visit, expect a warm welcome to a structured class starting with a brief warm-up and ritual transition into the lesson. You'll learn tango fundamentals through guided exercises, partner work, and practice to music, with a mid-class break to rest. Beginners can attend a trial class (prøvetime) to experience the style before committing to a course. If you come without a partner, the studio will pair you with others in the group.
