About this studio
Sweet Burlesque is Denmark's first and largest burlesque dance school, located at Rønnegade 1, 1st floor, 2100 København Ø. The studio offers 22 classes across all levels and runs regular shows, making it both a teaching studio and performance venue.
The school teaches burlesque dance at four distinct levels. Begynder (Beginner) classes introduce core burlesque steps and body awareness with no prior dance experience required. Letøvet (Intermediate) classes build on foundational technique for those with 2–3 seasons of burlesque study or equivalent dance experience from other styles. Øvet (Advanced) classes challenge experienced dancers with focus on artistry, performance and complex combinations. Pro classes are for selected dancers with 5+ years' experience who may perform at studio shows.
Beyond traditional burlesque, the studio runs specialised classes including Y2K (burlesque meets 00s pop divas), Sensual Seduction (body positivity and sensualty for all genders), Lyrical Burlesque, Movie Dance Class, Golden Diva, Klassisk Striptease, Pilates & Flex, and Tekniktræning. Sweet Burly Grooves are drop-in themed dance sessions held every Friday, with offerings ranging from Dancehall Queen and K-pop to Halloween specials and Alice i Eventyrland. An All Levels class welcomes anyone regardless of experience.
The studio emphasises body positivity, inclusion and personal development alongside technical training. Classes focus on tease, poses, performance and attitude rather than nudity—the school does not use nipple pasties in classes. Instructors named include Miss Maia, Sara Tonin, Headmistress Ann, and Miss Agi. The studio hosts two shows yearly: a Christmas show and end-of-season performance where students may perform. It also runs the annual Copenhagen Burlesque Festival, hosts workshops and masterclasses, offers private lessons, and can be booked for events like hen parties (polterabend) and corporate functions. Gift certificates and merchandise are available.
Minimum age to dance is 18. Most classes run on a season basis (full season 31 August 2026–1 May 2027; half seasons available). Drop-in classes are offered in September and January when spaces permit, and year-round for Flexibility classes and Friday Sweet Burly Grooves. The studio closes during school holidays and public holidays.
