BALLROOM & WEDDING DANCE STUDIO

Ballroom & Wedding Dance Studio serves the Twin Cities and Hudson, Wisconsin with 20 years of experience teaching ballroom, Latin, and wedding dance. The studio operates from two locations: 2717 E 42nd Street in Minneapolis, MN, and Riverfront Athletic Club in Hudson, WI.

Group classes run on a progressive structure, starting with basics and adding new moves each week. In Minneapolis, beginning ballroom classes (Swing, Waltz, Hustle, Rumba) meet on Tuesdays 7–8pm, and beginning Latin classes (Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Merengue) meet on Wednesdays 7–8pm. Sessions are 4 or 5 weeks long and cost $145–$180 per couple. Classes are limited to 5 couples and require pre-registration at least 7 days ahead. In Hudson, 8-week sessions run on Sundays with beginning classes at 4pm, intermediate at 5pm, and advanced (by permission) at 7pm, at $149 per person or $298 per couple. Friday Salsa and Bachata classes also run at 7pm. Hudson members can pay for one class and attend others free.

Private lessons are 60 minutes, full hour—longer than many competitors offer. Instructors teach at your pace in a private room with no other students present. Wedding dance specialities include first dance choreography, father–daughter dances, and mother–son dances. The studio teaches Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Salsa, Cha-Cha, Merengue, Rumba, Swing, Hustle, and West Coast Swing, among others.

Ballroom dance parties run on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month in Hudson, 7–10pm at Riverfront Athletic Club. A lesson runs 7–8pm, then open dancing 8–10pm for $15 per person. DJ Tom plays a range of styles including East and West Coast Swing, Waltz, Cha Cha, Nightclub 2-step, Hustle, Rumba, Country 2-step, Tango, Foxtrot, and Salsa. Themed parties include a December holiday party, January country night, February Salsa and Bachata, and March St. Patrick's theme with Irish line dancing. Gift certificates are available.

Classes start with basics and build progressively week to week. Group classes are limited to 5 couples and meet once weekly for 4, 5, or 8 weeks depending on the session. Private lessons give you a full hour in your own room with an instructor who works at your pace.

Tom Larson is named as an instructor available for registration and questions at the Hudson location. Instructors are described as patient, teach at a comfortable pace, discuss your dance interests, and explain options clearly.

Classes start with the basics; most wedding couples have never had lessons before and are welcome at any level.
