About this studio
Yirii Dance Studio is a Latin dance studio in Minneapolis where instructors with over 13 years of professional dancing experience teach salsa, bachata, heels, and reggaeton. The studio operates group classes and describes itself as cultivating "a vibrant and inclusive community where everyone can explore their mind, body, and soul through movement."
The teaching approach emphasizes progression over perfection. Instructors introduce new rhythms and innovative concepts while exploring the rich history of dance and music. One instructor, Tommy, is specifically mentioned in reviews for his thoughtful approach to bachata history and different types. The studio runs weekly salsa follower styling classes and bachata Sundays. Class sizes allow for individual attention; one regular student noted "you won't feel like just another number in a class."
Basic bachata and salsa classes each last a month and teach foundational steps to get you dancing socially right away. The studio also offers performance teams for those wanting to advance further. In partner-work classes, you rotate partners throughout the hour so everyone dances with everyone, though you can stay with a partner if you prefer. An assessment or private lesson with an instructor can help you decide whether to start with salsa, bachata, or both simultaneously.
The studio accepts both cash and card payments, with online pre-registration recommended. Current pricing includes a $115 monthly membership for unlimited group classes, which also grants access to complimentary personal training and top-tier fitness programs. The location is at 3754 Pleasant Ave #220W. Class sizes and skill levels accommodate everyone from complete beginners to experienced dancers.
