About this studio
Bellydance Montpellier is run by Flora Harricane, an instructor whose passion for Middle-Eastern dance began 20 years ago. In 2010, she founded the association "Danse Orientale Montpellier / Ashadah Danse" to promote Egyptian bellydance through classes and workshops for people of any age and body-type.
Flora teaches both group classes and private lessons. Group classes take place in a welcoming environment where you benefit from group energy and learn in a warm atmosphere. Private lessons are tailored to your needs and desires, designed to help you discover yourself through dance and develop your abilities.
Flora's teaching philosophy centres on self-acceptance and confidence before technique. She believes dancing means loving the music and its composition—each melody, scale and lyric matters and should be expressed and lived deeply. She continues to train with dance masters in France and abroad to deepen her knowledge and art.
Beyond classes, Flora performs regularly at major venues. She has danced at the Paris Olympia and Folies Bergères, and at Montpellier's Zenith, performing in the opening segments of concerts by Egyptian singers Hakim and Georges Wassouf. She also books performances for private events—New Year celebrations, private evenings, weddings, birthdays and city projects—with groups of 1 to 6 dancers available to perform.
