About this studio
BrazilFlair teaches Brazilian dance in Cologne through weekly classes, workshops and private coaching. Lana Ribeiro, the founder, trained from age 12 at a theatre in São Paulo and studied Jazz, Ballet, Urban Dance (Heels & Hip Hop) and Musical Theatre before specialising in Brazilian partner dances. She is a graduate of Academia Jimmy de Oliveira, has competed in Brazilian dance tournaments, performed in musicals and worked directly with leading figures in Samba de Gafieira.
Weekly classes run in Samba no Pé (solo Brazilian samba expression) and Samba de Gafieira (elegant Brazilian partner dance). Both are open level with a methodical curriculum from Newcomer through to advanced stages; you can join at any time. Samba no Pé suits solo dancers entirely. Samba de Gafieira uses a rotation system so you learn with all participants present, not just one partner.
Workshops and intensive weekends feature Brazilian Zouk (sensual, flowing partner dance with soft wave movements and deep connection) and Samba Funkeado (urban, energetic samba variant blending Brazilian funk with classical samba movement). International guest instructors are brought in regularly. Workshop schedules and bookings are managed through DancePlace; class booking uses Eversports.
Private coaching is available in three formats: single lessons for clear focus, booster packages for visible progress over weeks, and premium packages for deep methodical guidance. Lana offers specific preparation for performances, weddings and pair learning. Wedding first dances are choreographed personally and trained in a few sessions. Bachelorette experiences offer Brazilian dance sessions as a gift to the bride and guests. Live performances (Samba-Shows) are available for corporate events, galas and private occasions.
Classes take place at Tor28 Dance Studio (Machabäerstraße 28) and Studio Georgstraße (Georgstraße 5), both in Cologne. Workshops use varying venues. Lana's teaching emphasizes not only technique but the history, values and everyday Brazilian life that give the dances meaning. Urban Sports Club is accepted as payment.
