Brussels Salsa Project

Brussels Dance Project (formerly Brussels Salsa Project) teaches Latin, Swing and African dance across multiple locations in Brussels: the Studio Center at Rue Brialmont 7, Ixelles at Avenue Adolphe Buyl 87, and outdoor summer classes at Parc du Cinquantenaire. The school was founded on a passion for Salsa and a vision to help people become confident dancers at social parties. That journey began with a structured beginner Salsa program and has since expanded to include Bachata, Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Forró, and African dances with West African/Mandingo styles including Jankadi, Makuru, Dununba, Soli, Mandiani, Djolé, Maane and Konkoba.

Classes run Monday to Wednesday evenings from 18:30 to 22:00 (Wednesday until 21:30). The teaching approach focuses on fundamentals—rhythm & music, partnering principles, posture & body movement—with heavy emphasis on footwork and pair work. Beginner classes start from the base, making dance accessible to complete newcomers. Progressive levels include 1 Beginners, 2 Improvers, and 3 Intermediates, with specialised programmes like Forró Intro I & II, Forró Roots, and African Percussions. Swing Open Practice and Forró Open Practice sessions run depending on attendance.

The team includes Lysandra (Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Salsa, Bachata), Maroine (Lindy Hop, inspired by Whitey's Lindy Hoppers), Anita (Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, ballroom background), Francisco from Mexico (Bachata, Salsa Caleña), Malena trained in Seville (Flamenco, Sevillanas), Amandine (Bachata, Salsa, with breakdance, hip-hop and contemporary background), Grazi from Brazil (Forró Roots and University styles, trained with Hugo Silva and Léo Diniz), Domani from Guinea (African dance, niece of djembefola Mamady Keïta, won first prize at Guinea ballet competition), and André (founder, Salsa, Bachata, Lindy Hop programmes).

The school organises regular parties featuring Salsa, Bachata, Swing and Forró, held at venues including Bellevue Bar at MEININGER Hotel, Le Réservoir Bar, KFK Hope, and Carré in Willebroek. Parties typically feature workshop openings and curated music mixes (often 80% Salsa LA/On1/in line, 20% Bachata). Gift cards and vouchers are available. Private classes and workshops can be booked. The school is described as welcoming, international, and fun, with a focus on building the biggest dance community in Belgium centred on Latin, Swing and African rhythms.

Your first class starts with the basics—teachers cover rhythm and the foundation steps—then you join the group learning the same new moves. Classes rotate partners, no partner needed. Wear whatever allows you to move and slide on a wooden floor. Come as you are; the atmosphere is welcoming and international.
