About this studio

Bygdelagssamskipnaden (BLS) is a cultural organisation based at Nordahl Bruns gate 22 in Oslo that runs a varied programme of dance, theatre, choir, music and sport activities. The organisation operates several venues and mountain cabins (hytter), and hosts regular events throughout the year.

Dance is central to BLS's work. The organisation runs Sunday dances in partnership with Kom og Dans (KOD), held each Sunday with a shared ticket. BLS arranges gammaldans (traditional dance), turdans, bygdedans and songdans in the main hall (Storsalen), while KOD runs swing in Halli. From autumn 2026, dance also takes place in Blåsalen roughly half the time. No partner is required, and all are welcome to attend.

Beyond regular Sunday dances, BLS organises themed dance evenings throughout the year. Recent events include accordion practice (Øving trekkspill) with Symra, historical dance (Historisk dans), and evenings dedicated to specific traditions such as Valdresspringar. Events typically run between 7–9.30 pm and cost between kr50 and kr150, depending on the programme.

The organisation also hosts cultural events: BLS participated in Dans, Dans, Dans, a major dance festival held across ten venues in January–February 2026 with over 40 events. The organisation maintains an active calendar of events and offers seasonal programmes.

BLS is a membership organisation with a board, property committee and folk dance committee. The organisation owns and rents out mountain cabins including Bondehytta, Buvollen, Hordahytta, Nordfjordhytta, Røkleivhytta, Sunnfjordhytta and Sørlandshytta. BLS also rents out its halls and manages facilities for hire, with rental prices and a calendar available on request.
