About this studio
C.A.S.T. KC—Cabaret Arts and Social Theatre—is the Kansas City Metro's incubator for performing arts education and community support through movement, dance, music and theatre. The venue sits at 9050 Metcalf Ave in Overland Park and functions as both a teaching studio and an event space.
Weekly social dance classes run on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Social Swing classes teach West Coast Swing on Tuesday and Thursday, with instruction and practice time led by WCS instructors. Thursday's Social Swing is hosted by Jesse Lopez and Ariel Peck. Friday hosts Ballroom Class & Social Dance Night, run by The Ballroom KC, welcoming all dancers. All three classes cost $20 per session.
The space itself comprises two large dance floors and mirrors throughout the Metcalf Ballroom, described as elegant and spacious with a timeless atmosphere. The main dance floor can seat up to 150 guests comfortably with room left for dancing. A side ballroom provides space for intimate ceremonies or mingling. The venue is available for rental for weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations. C.A.S.T. offers in-house entertainment, event planning, day-of management, technical support including lights and sound, world-class dance instructors, and on-site emergency alteration and wardrobe assistance for wedding events.
Beyond classes, C.A.S.T. runs Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre every Saturday, with matinee and evening performances. The venue also hosts the Thorn & Rose Faerie Ball and provides full-service corporate event solutions including live jazz bands, cabaret singers, comedians, variety performers, dancers and dance instruction, interactive murder mystery experiences, themed trivia nights, karaoke parties, and social dance parties with instruction. Full-service catering is available with custom menus and dietary accommodations.
