About this studio
Caliente Dance Studio, founded by Ali and Janey, sits on Level 7 of Midland House near Bugis MRT. The studio specializes in Latin dance styles: Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Brazilian Zouk. Classes are offered in both partner and solo formats, with the studio accepting complete beginners, people without dance partners, and experienced dancers.
Ali was introduced to Latin music and dance in Guatemala and Colombia from 2010 for 2 years. He won a Salsa Competition in Singapore in 2017, a Bachata Competition in Vietnam, and reached the Grand Finals as runner-up at the Las Vegas Ultimate Latin Dance Championship in 2018. He serves as main Artistic Director and has choreographed and trained performance teams since 2016. Janey developed her interest in Latin dance through learning Spanish and travelling to Spain, where she was introduced to Salsa and Bachata social dancing. She won the Singapore Bachata Championship in 2016 and also competed in the Las Vegas Ultimate Latin Dance Championship in 2018 as runner-up. Janey is Co-Director.
Other instructors include Rosanna, who won the Bachata (Open) championship in Vietnam and Salsa (Open) in Singapore, and Robin, who was exposed to Latin dance from an early age in Mexico and has participated in multiple performances and choreographies at the studio. Catherine and Lucas G also teach.
The studio positions itself as a community space for young adults to improve fitness, enhance mind-body connection, boost self-confidence, and meet like-minded dancers. Classes are progressive, designed to take dancers from beginner to confident social dancer. The studio offers private classes for individuals, couples, and small groups, with specialized services including wedding dance choreography, corporate team building, competitive dance training, and external event performances. Private class packages include a 5% discount for 5 hours and 10% discount for 10 hours.
