About this studio
City Dance is a monthly social dance event run by Danç'Art Lille, an association founded in 2016 to promote Afro-Latin couple dances. The event takes place at Ascotel hotel in Villeneuve-d'Ascq and has become one of the largest regional monthly gatherings for dancers in the north.
Each City Dance night runs across three rooms, each with its own atmosphere and style: Bachata, Kizomba & Kompa, and Salsa. The evening is structured in three parts. From 19:00–21:00, evolving workshops run for dancers who have completed ten or more classes (cost €20 online, €25 on the door, or €10 for initiations only). From 21:00–22:00, free initiations are offered in Bachata, Salsa or Kizomba with no prerequisites — open to anyone. From 22:00–04:00, the full City Dance party runs across all three rooms with DJs playing throughout the night.
The venue offers practical advantages: over 300 free parking spaces, five minutes' walk from Cité Scientifique metro station, free changing rooms, and an inexpensive café. Hotel accommodation at Ascotel is available at a preferential rate; contact the organisers by email for details. The event runs on set dates: 12 October, 9 November, 8 March, 19 April and 10 May.
