About this studio

City Dansstudio has taught dance in Mölndal since 1968, when it was founded by Anita Rydberg. Since 2001, it has been run by Helena Gatzioura, the school's owner and artistic director. The studio describes itself as small, personal and family-oriented, with its own dedicated space where parents can wait while children dance—there's a coffee machine with different coffee varieties, hot chocolate and tea available.

The school offers classes across a wide range of styles and age groups. For young children, there's Minimovers (for ages 2–4, dancing with a parent) and Barndans (children's dance). Ballet options include Barnbalett (children's ballet), Klassisk balett (classical ballet for older students and adults), and a separate Balett vuxna (adult ballet) class. Contemporary, Jazzdans, Streetfusion, Streetmix, Barre Move and Akrobatik are also taught. The school runs Svenska Balettskolans Certifierade Danslinje (the Swedish Ballet School's certified dance line) for children aged 6–9, and Silversvanar 65+ for older women. There is also a Dansmix class with mixed step combinations focused on jazz, show and contemporary.

The studio emphasises technique alongside enjoyment. Classes focus on finding different qualities in dance—weight, flow and energy—and exploring movement at different levels (standing, lying, sitting). Barndans develops children's motor skills, spatial awareness and body awareness through playful movement. Barnbalett builds foundational classical ballet with training in strength, balance and agility through simple steps at the barre and across the floor. Barre Move works the whole body efficiently and gently, training strength, body control, core stability, mobility and balance. Streetfusion blends streetjazz with other street dance styles, emphasising attitude and pace. Jazzdans mixes musical, traditional jazz, lyrical jazz and show jazz, blending multiple dance forms with jazz technique.

Every year the school puts on colourful shows for children (usually in April) and for young people (usually in December). These are held at Mölnlycke Kulturhus. Participating groups are not beginner groups and not under 6 years old; younger groups have their end-of-year performance in the dance studio where they feel safe and comfortable.

The studio operates from its own personal and family-friendly premises. Helena Gatzioura emphasises that all teachers have solid training and high competence in their areas. Testimonials highlight the quality of teaching: students report learning real technique and feeling seen by their instructors, while the school maintains a supportive community atmosphere. Parents note warm welcomes and genuine care for each child as an individual.
