Lindy Hop is the studio's main focus. It's presented here as a two-partner dance born in Harlem around 1930, reaching its peak with Whitey's Lindy Hoppers at the Savoy Ballroom. The studio emphasises that it draws from African-American vernacular gesture and swing culture, and that both partners—regardless of gender—have equal space to express their own groove through improvisation, listening, and mutual suggestion. The dance incorporates influences from blues, Afro-beat, rock and roll, and funk.
The studio welcomes complete beginners. The only prerequisite is the ability to put one foot in front of the other, and the studio says it starts from zero. Solo dancers can register alone, though the studio recommends finding a partner for Lindy Hop to secure a place and choose your role (Lead or Follow). Partner rotation during classes is standard practice, reflecting the social nature of swing dancing.
Beyond classes, Coco Swing hosts regular Thursday socials (La Sociale du jeudi) and special events.
