About this studio
ConfiDance was founded in 2019 in Columbus, OH by Laura Meyer, a writer, mother and dancer. The studio launched in Cleveland in March 2022 and operates from two locations: 904 E 222nd St, Euclid and 4151 Mayfield Road, South Euclid. The mission is to promote self acceptance, strength, confidence and personal power through movement and dance, with a particular focus on uplifting and centring marginalized identities, specifically BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.
Laura has been dancing for 30+ years, beginning at age five. Her background spans ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and heels, studied at schools including The Dance Extension, Columbus Youth Ballet, Northpointe Dance Academy and Otterbein University. She brings both technical training and a philosophy of healing through dance to her classes, combining technique and creativity to provide both a strong workout and deepen the mind-body connection.
ConfiDance offers monthly group heels and hip hop classes—beginner-friendly, 2-hour sessions designed as party-like events where you learn proper technique, perfect your walks and choreograph a short routine. These are BYOB events and the right setting to come with friends or make new ones. The studio is positioned explicitly as an inclusive, judgment-free zone.
Beyond classes, ConfiDance books private parties for bachelorettes, birthdays and group celebrations. The $250 package includes a 1-hour dance class, studio rental, warm ups and routine for up to 20 guests (additional guests $15 each); the $350 package offers 2 hours of instruction. Both include tables for your own food and beverages, with alcohol permitted.
Laura's approach is rooted in her belief that dance can be healing, and she explicitly designs each class as a safe space. She speaks openly about her own journey with heels dance and femininity, inviting students to work through their own struggles in that safe environment.
