About this studio

Cultura Dance Arts teaches afro-latin dance in a welcoming, inclusive community based in Pawtucket. The studio offers group classes for adults in bachata, salsa on 2, and kizomba, with a clear progression from intro through level 3. All new students start with intro classes regardless of previous experience; from there, you can advance to level 1, level 2, and by invitation, level 3. The Kizomba Intensive Track is beginner-friendly but moves faster than intro, covering introductory material like musicality while teaching choreography at level 1 intensity—it's open to new and current students. Classes run throughout the week: Sunday and Monday feature intro and early-level bachata; Tuesday and Wednesday offer salsa at various levels; Thursday brings kizomba intensive and additional bachata. A monthly heels class runs by calendar. No partner is required for any group class.

Beyond weekly classes, Cultura runs a monthly dance social on the second Saturday of each month. These socials begin with a one-hour workshop from 8 PM to 9 PM, followed by social dancing from 9 PM to 11:30 PM. Current students attend free; general admission is $10. The social plays bachata, salsa, kizomba, and merengue—a chance to meet other dancers and practice in a social setting.

Private classes are available seven days a week for one-on-one instruction in bachata, salsa on 2, or kizomba. If you book during matinee hours (Monday to Thursday, 11 AM to 3 PM), you receive discounted rates: $60 for a one-hour private class or $150 for three one-hour sessions. Group private classes for three or more students can be arranged by contacting the studio.

Brandon Contreras, the founder and lead instructor, leads the studio with a commitment to professional, personalized service. The studio offers 24/7 phone support and is bilingual—hablamos español. Cultura Dance Arts also provides professional choreography services for quinceañeras, sweet 16s, weddings, musicals, multicultural showcases, and high school dance teams. School and corporate workshops customized to your needs are available, featuring either a regular one-hour bachata workshop or a full-day Evolution of Bachata programme covering dance and history. Bilingual (English and Spanish) workshops can be arranged.
