About this studio

Dança & Companhia is a social dance school in Arroios, Lisbon, with a mission to expand and share dance as living cultural transmission. The school teaches three main styles: Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba, with a structured approach across four learning phases that progress from unconscious without technique, to conscious without technique, conscious with technique, and finally unconscious with technique.

The curriculum covers body awareness and Latin movement, pair connection and leading techniques, introduction to basic steps and rhythmic structure, movement sequences and step exercises, and interpretation and improvisation—how to interpret different phases of the music. The school runs regular classes Monday to Friday, 19:00 to 22:00, and offers an intensive summer course (Dança em Agosto) covering Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba, as well as a Cuban Salsa initiation course. Regular group classes are open for enrolment for all three styles.

The teaching team includes Tânia Capão (Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba), Fabian Morera (Salsa and Bachata), Edu & Brave (Kizomba), and Catarina Martins (Salsa and Bachata). Teachers like Mónica and Sérgio are noted in student testimonials for being available to clarify doubts and correct technique during class. One student reported that Tânia translates everything into English for non-Portuguese speakers.

Beyond regular classes, the school offers specialist programming: Dança para Noivos (dance for engaged couples, with blog content on waltzes for first dances) and organises events, parties and travel experiences. The spaces include two studios—Studio 1 (25 m²) and Studio 2/Salão (40 m²)—which are available to rent by the hour, day, week or month. Both studios feature quality dance floors suitable for any style from ballet to hip-hop to contemporary dance, wall mirrors for movement feedback, adjustable lighting, air conditioning, changing rooms, and good access to public transport with parking nearby.
