Académie de Danse Lyon 7 was founded in 1990 by Florence Allard Meunier. The studio teaches classical and modern dance to children from age 5 upwards, and runs a full programme for adults from beginner to professional level. The school's stated aim is for students to flourish through dance, whether their path leads to professional performance, teaching, choreography, or personal enrichment.
A distinctive feature is the use of live piano accompaniment in classical dance classes. Professional pianists support both children's classes (elementary and intermediate levels) and adult sessions, allowing students to connect movement and rhythm directly to live music—classical, modern, and traditional styles.
Beyond classical and modern dance, the academy offers barre à terre and Pilates classes for adults. Discovery sessions in Pilates are periodically available. The studio also offers private lessons.
Every two years, the academy stages a full-scale end-of-year performance where students showcase what they have learned and teachers present their choreographic work. The most recent spectacle took place on 20 June at the Bourse du Travail.
The academy is staffed by seven dedicated teachers and four professional pianists. It is located at 35 rue Pasteur in Lyon's 7th arrondissement, 40 metres from the Tram T1 Saint-André stop and 100 metres from the Piscine du Rhône.
