About this studio
Dance EZ teaches ballroom, Latin, salsa, swing, country and tango through private lessons scheduled by appointment. The studio operates from two locations: Soundbox Studio at 3300 Chimney Rock, Suite 500, Houston, and Dancesport Club at 11758 SW Fwy, Houston. Owners Susan Timani and Rabih Timani lead the instruction team, supported by Katharine (Kay) Gordon.
Susan began dancing in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, where she choreographed and danced in a student dance company for four years, focusing on jazz, ballet and modern styles. She later studied dance at the University of Houston for one year before being introduced to ballroom. She teaches ballroom, Latin, swing, salsa and hustle, and students praise her patience, feedback and clarity. Rabih is a licensed Ballroom L.I.S.T.D. teacher who teaches both International and American styles of dance as well as bachata and salsa. He continues to train and competes with students who aim for higher levels. Kay brings skills in breaking down biomechanics of movement and has trained in ballroom, rhythm, country and swing after teaching social dances including salsa, merengue, bachata and cumbia. She is known for her patience, positivity and ability to accommodate all learning styles.
Private lessons are 45-minute sessions at $115 each, or $100 per session for packages of ten or more. All lessons must be paid at booking time. Lessons expire one year after purchase unless extended for medical reasons with a doctor's note. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged unless an emergency applies.
Wedding dance preparation is a speciality: the studio recommends four to five lessons depending on the dance style and complexity. They choreograph first dances, father/daughter dances and mother/son dances. Couples are encouraged to bring their wedding shoes or similar footwear to lessons and to brief instructors on any movement restrictions their dress may impose. The studio also offers showcases and competition opportunities for students who wish to perform or test their skills.
What to expect
Your first visit
You'll have one-on-one time with an instructor where you choose the dances and set your own pace. Bring comfortable clothing that allows free movement, and shoes without rubber soles (or dress shoes if you're new to ballroom). Your teacher will address specific questions about steps and technique so you develop the look you want on the dance floor.

Susan Timani began dancing in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where she choreographed and danced in a student dance company for four years, focusing on jazz, ballet and modern styles. Rabih Timani originally took a college ballroom dance class to meet a P.E. requirement and discovered that dance would change his life. Together they founded Dance EZ to teach with passion and help people achieve their dance goals.
