Dance Movement Inc. (DMI) is one of Singapore's most established dance schools, offering Salsa and Bachata classes with over a decade of teaching experience. The studio is located at #16-00 Malacca Center, 20 Malacca Street, less than 3 minutes' walk from Raffles Place MRT station. Their courses are progressively structured to help you achieve your dance goals in accessible steps, whether you're a total beginner or someone looking to expand your street Latin dance vocabulary.

DMI teaches across five levels: Beginner (Novice), Amateur (Levels 1–3), Adept (Levels 4–6), and Expert (Level 7). The class structure uses a modular approach at Amateur level and above, meaning you don't need to take classes in sequence—you can choose which modules to take at your own pace and repeat any that need more work. Trial classes cost $9.90 for a 1.5-hour partnerwork session covering both Salsa and Bachata, or solo 1-hour trials are also available. The studio has hosted world-class international dance artists, including World Salsa Champions Rafael & Carine (Brazil), World Bachata Champions Marcelo & Belen (Spain), and professionals from the USA, UK, India, Italy and Spain.

DMI's instructors include Studio Directors Ronnie and Ee Lian, who were first runner-up in the Salsa Professional category at the Asia Open Championship (Indian International Dance Congress, 2017). Ee Lian holds ABRSM Grade 8 certification in Piano, Percussion and Ballet and brings 10 years of performing and teaching experience. The teaching team also includes Emeline, Marcus, Bee Hui, Mitch, Gina, Greg, Jethro, Kwang Yong, Shao Ting and Sayaka. The studio runs two performance teams: the Dance Movement Performance Team (Salsa and Bachata) and the Dance Movement Bachata Team, both led by Ronnie and Ee Lian.

Beyond classes, DMI offers weekly social dancing events including BSTS (Bachata Salsa Thursday Social), practica sessions, and monthly social events. The studio has worked with corporate clients including Singapore Management University (choreographers, 2016–2021), Nanyang Technological University (choreographers, 2019–2021), Barclays Bank Singapore, BNP Paribas Singapore, Grab Singapore, Lazada Singapore, and others. DMI was first runner-up in the Salsa Professional category at IDC World Championships 2017 and has performed at events including Baila Loco (Singapore), Bailer en la Noche (Singapore), Colada Bangkok, Jeju Latin Culture Festival (Korea), Paris International Salsa Congress (France), and the Singapore International Latin Festival.

The studio also offers studio rental across four individually sized spaces (150–430 sqft) plus combined configurations, totalling approximately 2,000 square feet. All rental spaces are fully air-conditioned with full-length mirrors, sound systems and lighting controls. Peak rental rates (Mon–Fri 6pm onwards, all day weekends) range from $40–$110/hr depending on studio size; off-peak rates (Mon–Fri before 6pm) are $35–$90/hr. Chairs, tables, projector and projector screen are available for event rentals.

You'll join a progressively structured class in a friendly, cosy studio with rotating partners so you meet new people. Trial classes cost $9.90 and last 1.5 hours (partnerwork covering both Salsa and Bachata) or 1 hour (solo). Wear comfortable streetwear and smooth-soled shoes that won't slip off your feet. No dance experience needed for beginner classes.

Studio Directors Ronnie and Ee Lian lead the team. Ronnie teaches with energy and laughter; Ee Lian is an ABRSM-certified performer and educator with 10 years' experience in arts and music. In 2017, both emerged as first runner-up in the Salsa Professional category at the Asia Open Championship (Indian International Dance Congress). Other instructors include Emeline, Marcus, Bee Hui, Mitch, Gina, Greg, Jethro, Kwang Yong, Shao Ting and Sayaka.

Beginner classes require no dance background and are taught in a fun, sociable environment with progressive, accessible structure.
