About this studio

Jitterbugs Swingapore teaches Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Acrobatics, and Vocal Coaching to students from age 4 through adult. The studio moved to a new location at The Riverwalk on Upper Circular Road, expanding from their original Havelock Road studio.

The mission is to provide excellence in dance education in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment, with students encouraged to achieve their personal potential while experiencing the joy of dance. The studio believes in holistic dance education—students study multiple dance styles to reach their full potential.

Jitterbugs Swingapore is a CSTD School offering CSTD examinations in Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tapping and Contemporary. The CSTD (Commonwealth Society Of Teachers Of Dancing) is an authoritative examining body with high standards internationally recognized. The studio also provides Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations, which is an international teacher education and awarding organisation for dance recognised internationally for the highest standards of teaching and learning.

The studio operates four purpose-built studios. Studios 1, 2 and 3 are fitted with Omara sprung floors, while Studio 4 has Harlequin sprung floors. All studios include Harlequin Reversible Pro Tarkett vinyl flooring suitable for all genres of dance, wall-mounted ballet barres, floor-to-ceiling mirrored walls, acoustic panels to reduce noise transference, surround sound systems, and wall-mounted speakers. Central air conditioning is available throughout. Studio 1 and 3 are 120 sqm and 112 sqm respectively, comparable to a performance stage and suitable for performance and competition rehearsals.

The teaching team includes Ms Tiffany Wrightson (Artistic Director), Ms Shanti Gomes (Teacher, Choreographer), Mr Yang Weicheng (Teacher, Choreographer), Ms Shermaine Heng (Teacher, Choreographer), Ms Felicia Er (Teacher, Choreographer; currently an Artist with Singapore Ballet), Ms Foo Yu Han (Teacher, Choreographer), Ms Emma Lim (Teacher, Choreographer; with the studio for 10 years), Ms Jennifer Lee (Teacher, Choreographer), Ms Carolyn Puah Neo (Teacher, Choreographer), Ms Emilia Klein (Teacher, Choreographer), Ms Alyssa Yam (Teacher, Choreographer), and Ms Jeanette Tan (Acrobatics Coach with decades of experience). Multiple assistant teachers support the program.

Students progress through Pre-Program levels (ages 4–5), then Program Levels 1–12 (ages 6–18), culminating in Open classes for those 18 and over. Annual concerts provide performance opportunities, and the year finishes with CSTD or RAD examinations. Upon completion of the program, students may pursue teaching certification, move towards a professional career in dance, or continue dancing for personal enjoyment. Dancers who complete the syllabus in a particular genre can work towards CSTD Teaching Certificates and Diplomas, which are globally recognised.
