About this studio
Dance Pasión is an Auckland-based dance company run by John Flower and Natallia Ramanchuk, two of the region's most accomplished tango dancers. The studio specialises in Argentine Tango but also teaches Salsa and other Latin styles. Their aim is to promote and foster Argentine Tango within New Zealand while retaining authentic movements and feeling for each dance style.
John Flower holds the New Zealand Stage Tango Champion title and has represented New Zealand three times in the Semi Finals of the prestigious World Stage Tango Championships. He also won the WLDC Tango Champion title competing in Miami in 2016. With over 40 years of training and teaching in ice skating and dance, John has a unique ability to translate the complexities of Tango into easily understood exercises that unlock the secrets of both close and open Tango embraces. Natallia Ramanchuk began her dance life in New Zealand in 2003, training in Salsa and Argentine Tango at Dance Pasión. Since then she has continued training in Salsa, Latin styles, Brazilian Samba and Belly Dance. In 2024, Dance Pasión Tango won 1st Place in the Oceania Tango Championship, representing Oceania and New Zealand at the 2024 Mundial – Tango World Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Group classes cater to all levels, with an emphasis on good dance technique for social dancing. The studio also offers private one-on-one dance tutoring, wedding dance lessons with package deals available, and dance workshops. Their teaching covers tango technique fundamentals rooted in authentic Argentine Tango, developing natural posture and core strength, and the art of leading and following with a partner. The instructors prioritise matching you with the right class for your goals, motivations and skill level.
Beyond teaching, Dance Pasión is known for their professional Argentine Tango performances. Working together since 2019, John and Natallia have created choreography including Oblivion, Libertango, Roxanne, Tanguera, Milonga, La Hurricane and La Cumparsita. They have performed at the Napier Art Deco Festival, St Matthews in the City, Parnell Cathedral with AO Tango, Tango by Candelight in Cambridge, Auckland Museum, and at major events around New Zealand. They also offer corporate team-building events and private, corporate and wedding event performances. Dance Pasión runs classes and showcases nationwide from their Mount Eden base.

Who teaches here
John Flower, Director and Instructor, is a New Zealand Stage Tango Champion with three Semi-Final appearances at the World Stage Tango Championships and a WLDC Tango Champion title. He brings over 40 years of dance and ice skating training experience. Natallia Ramanchuk, Instructor, has trained in Argentine Tango, Salsa, Brazilian Samba and Belly Dance since 2003 and performs professionally alongside John. Together they have won 1st Place at the 2024 Oceania Tango Championship and regularly train in Buenos Aires.

Studio history
John Flower started his dance career as a New Zealand Gold Level ice dance champion before being introduced to South American dance, becoming New Zealand's first South American Dance Champion. He trained and performed Lambada, Salsa and Samba with Dance companies Tierra Viva and Latin Fever before specialising in Argentine Tango. He became NZ Tango Champion for three consecutive years (2006, 2007, 2008 – the last year the NZ championships were held) and represented New Zealand in the prestigious Tango World Championships in Buenos Aires for those three years. Dance Pasión was recognised for their authentic traditional style by the NZ Argentine embassy and were the first dancers to perform with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra in 1999, continuing to perform multiple times with the APO and the Australian Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
