Tanzstudio Schlegl has been teaching dance in Nürnberg for over 120 years, since 1903. The studio operates three dance halls and a modern lounge, offering a full programme across all ages and experience levels.
The school teaches Standard dances including Walzer, Foxtrott and Tango, alongside Latin American styles such as Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and Jive. They offer structured courses for children, teenagers, and adults, plus specialist tracks: couples courses (Spezialkurse paarweise), solo courses (Spezialkurse solo), and dedicated classes for the 60+ age group (Forever Young 60+). Wedding crash courses (Hochzeits-Crashkurse) are available for couples preparing for their first dance. Yoga classes also run within the studio.
Regular dance parties anchor the social calendar. Teenagers gather every Saturday from 20:15–23:15 (€6 entry; closed to current students with valid card). Adults meet Fridays from 21:00–23:30 (€8 for members, €10 for guests). Senior dancers are also welcomed. Special themed parties run throughout the year: Linedance parties (€10–15 entry), Mission Bailar nights featuring Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba, and seasonal events like the Winterball (€40) and Christmas party. Medalist tests and practice parties for beginners are regular fixtures.
The studio hosts major ballroom events: its acclaimed final balls (Abschlussbälle) draw over 100 young couples in formal dress to Nürnberg's city hall. The SommerTanzCamp runs daily 09:00–16:00 with full-day childcare, breakfast and lunch included. A Schlegl App (iOS and Android) helps students manage bookings and information. The studio also rents its spaces for private events and hosts bachelor/bachelorette parties (Junggesellenabschiede).
