About this studio
Ella's Fellas is a Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz dance school in Kreis 4, Zürich, a few minutes from Hardbrücke. The studio offers weekly classes at midday and evening, as well as weekend workshops, private lessons, shows and parties.
Classes run for both absolute beginners and experienced dancers. The school teaches Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Soft Shoe Tap. In beginner Lindy Hop classes, you start without fixed roles (Leader/Follower), which means you can try both and decide which suits you. The ELEF (Everybody Leads Everybody Follows) courses teach both roles deliberately. Solo Jazz is danced alone. In the Lindy in a Day workshop, you also begin without fixed roles. Summer courses run with specific instructors like Kanini Kiiru (10–13 August 2026). Solo Jazz workshops explore themes like groove, grounding and self-expression.
Social dances happen multiple times a month on Fridays or Saturdays, with free crash courses included so beginners can join. At these events, a DJ or live swing band plays and everyone dances with everyone else — you learn basics in class, but real dancing happens on the floor. Parties welcome all levels; many run from 15:00–19:00 or 20:45–23:59. Open student-run training takes place every Saturday from 11:15–14:00.
The school also books shows for corporate events, weddings, birthdays and other celebrations, with optional Lindy Hop crash courses for guests. Private lessons are available for individuals, couples or small groups, with options to book a single teacher or a teacher pair depending on your level and preference.
The studio sits at Hohlstrasse 192, easily reached by car (limited parking available) or excellent public transport (bus, tram, train). The space is ground-floor accessible. There are two studios: the smaller one (51 m²) has a music system and two mirrored walls; the larger (100 m²) includes piano, music system, kitchen and changing room. Both can be rented hourly, daily or long-term. Toilets are available but not gender-neutral. There are no showers or changing rooms, though a 'Freshen Up' station with deodorant and gum is provided. The floor is somewhat slippery, so many dancers wear trainers. Each class has its own WhatsApp group where recap videos are shared.
