About this studio
Savoy Benimaclet is a swing dance school in the Benimaclet neighborhood of Valencia, located at Carrer del Dr. Vicent Zaragoza, 29. The school describes itself as the original swing school in Benimaclet, created as a space dedicated to jazz dance and swing music. It is more than a conventional dance school: the focus extends to events and classes built around music and human connection.
The school's philosophy centers on what swing expresses, what it means, and what it creates between people. Rather than training dancers in technique alone, Savoy emphasizes the values of dance and makes constant historical revision of the classics—both in music and movement—treating each class as both a challenge and a learning opportunity. The school aims to preserve the spirit of swing as a music that changes mood and creates inevitable smiles and connection between dancers and their partners.
Savoy hosts a range of classes including Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing. The school runs beginner groups and offers intensive courses; a July intensive of four hours focused on Lindy Hop beginners has been advertised, and initiation groups begin in September. Online classes are also available.
The school organizes festivals and social events centered on swing culture. A festival called Savoy Dancing in the Cave is planned for 2026.
The space is designed with swing dancing in mind. Savoy positions itself as a welcoming, inclusive community rooted in the historical spirit of Savoy ballrooms as places of integration where no racial or social discrimination occurred. The school emphasizes that everyone who enters should feel safe, and frames dancing as healing.
