Fleur De Dance is a 1,500 sq. ft. studio in Lakeview, New Orleans, run by Byron Bellew and Tammy Duke Bellew—both All-Star West Coast Swing competitors with over 30 years of teaching experience each. Byron holds a Bachelor's in Music Education and certifications from GPDIA and GSTDA in teaching and judging; he's also a U.S. Open Swing Dance Championship competitor and professional DJ. Tammy is a coach and choreographer who has shaped dancers nationwide, competed at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championship, and founded long-standing dance programs at Tulane University. She holds certifications in Ballroom, Latin, and West Coast Swing.
The studio hosts the West Coast Swing Academy of New Orleans, offering a structured curriculum for partner dancing at all levels—from social to competition-level proficiency. Group classes run every Wednesday: Level 1 and Level 3 at 7:00 PM, Level 2 and Level 4 at 7:45 PM, all $15 per 45-minute class. No partner or prior experience needed; walk-ins are welcome. After classes, an open-level social dance runs from 8:30–10:30 PM ($10 entry, free with class attendance) where you can practise on the studio's smooth dance floor.
Private lessons are available for individuals or couples, with two professional instructors present for multi-person lessons. What to expect
Your first visit
On your first Wednesday night, arrive in casual clothes and comfy shoes with smooth soles. Drop in to a Level 1 class at 7:00 PM or Level 2 at 7:45 PM—no partner required, rotations optional. If you stay for the 8:30 PM social, you'll have two hours to practise on the studio's smooth floor in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

He holds a Bachelor's in Music Education and certifications from GPDIA and GSTDA, and is also a professional DJ and master of ceremonies. Tammy Duke Bellew is a multi-winning All-Star in West Coast Swing, coach, choreographer, and instructor with over 30 years of teaching experience. She has competed in Ballroom and Latin's Rising Star division and at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championship, and founded dance programs at Tulane University.
