Passion Dance Center Llc

Passion Dance Center, run by director Tamika Jett-Davidson, teaches dancers how to turn their passion for dance into a career. The studio's mission centres on professional training that gives students a competitive edge globally, with instruction designed to push dancers to their highest potential while fostering creativity and expression.

The curriculum follows company dance standards. The youth programme (ages 6–18) requires all students to take ballet, tap, and jazz, with costs at $100 per month; dancers can graduate with 12 years of training. The adult programme follows the same core requirement plus hip hop and contemporary, also open to dancers getting a late start. For younger students, tots classes (ages 3–5) combine ballet, tap, jazz, and tumbling at $65 per month. Drop-in classes are available at $15. Dance team membership, open to ages 8–18, costs an additional $20–$80 per month depending on the team. New student registration is $175 (including leotard, tights, PDC shirt, and bag); returning students pay $100. The studio also runs a youth programme and an adult programme, and offers internship opportunities in dance and promotions.

The teaching staff includes director and hip-hop/ballet/tap/jazz instructor Tamika Jett-Davidson (LSU graduate, 2009), who has worked on Beyoncé's Lemonade, cast in the film Girls Trip, and choreographed for the BET Awards. Michael Smith teaches hip hop and specialty courses; Kel Brown coaches the Golden Hearts and Ruby Blues groups and serves as assistant director. Keah Moffett coaches Golden Hearts and has appeared in Solange music videos and the film Bad Moms. Taeshaun Walters teaches ballet, tap, and jazz to groups 1 and 2. Jaleesa Jett-Douglas teaches tap and is a member of the Gulf Coast Tap Ensemble. Satchel Joseph teaches specialty courses and is a dance major at Tulane University. Dinah Bush teaches the Ruby Blues group and assists with ballet, tap, and jazz. Dawne Moffett is head coach for Golden Hearts and was featured on the reality show Bring It.

The studio offers master classes featuring dancers who have worked with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Chris Brown. Specialty classes outside the monthly curriculum are available and purchased separately. The studio operates three rental rooms: the Dreux Room ($50/hour, suited to classes and artist rehearsals), the Legacy Black Room ($35/hour, for single-person or small-group rehearsals), and the Broadway Room ($50/hour, described as a Marley room for technique practice with groups or solo events and parties).

Passion Dance Center also runs dance teams including the Golden Hearts Dance Krewe and Ruby Blues groups. The studio hosts dance team auditions and offers summer camp programmes. Special rates for private parties and events are available on request.

You'll start with a new student registration that includes a leotard, tights, PDC shirt, and bag. Classes follow company dance standards; depending on your age and programme, you'll take ballet, tap, jazz, and potentially hip hop and contemporary. The curriculum is structured around progress reports at the end of each semester (winter and spring).
