About this studio

Hi'ilei Aloha Dance Company preserves and teaches Polynesian culture through dance. The studio's philosophy centres on creating a fun, safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where students develop confidence, discover their individual gifts, and build pride in themselves and the culture. The company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which means your tuition directly supports their mission to keep Polynesian dance alive and accessible in Anchorage.

Classes run Monday through Thursday, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at Clark Middle School's Dance/Wrestling Room at the back of the gymnasium. The studio accepts new dancers and opens registration through 28 February 2026. Tuition is affordable and scaled for families: $45 per month for a single student, dropping to $40 when you have 4–6 family members enrolled, and $37 when you have 7 or more.

The teaching staff brings deep cultural knowledge. Donna Hi'ilei Matthews, the founder, teaches hula and ori Tahiti. Samantha Bubbles Poe leads siva fa'ataupati and sasa classes. Aunty Sammi Kalamau Pedro serves as consultant, guide, and guru to the programme.

Because the company reinvests in costumes, dance implements, equipment, insurance, space, and travel to perform and teach, they welcome donations from the community. As a registered non-profit, gifts are tax-deductible and help strengthen the foundation for dancers and future growth.
