About this studio
Inessence Dance Company was founded in 2012 by directors Bryon Stroud and Sammantha Arias. What started as a small group of local bachata dancers has grown to an organization of 100+ members across the Bay Area, Sacramento, and Concord, CA. The company offers in-person and online dance classes, competitive teams, social events, and entertainment services.
Classes are held at Danzhaus Dance Center at 1275 Connecticut St, San Francisco. Beginner Bachata meets Monday 8–9pm (upstairs studio) with Bryon and partner. Intermediate Bachata meets Tuesday 7–8pm with Bryon and Natalie. Both classes welcome all levels and do not require a partner. Classes combine footwork and partner work, with ways to practice partner combinations solo. Bachata classes have been offered for over 6 years.
Beyond weekly classes, Inessence runs competitive teams in Bachata, Salsa, Reggaeton, and Competition categories, with open enrollment held seasonally. The company also hosts regular social dance nights, including monthly Bachata socials in North Beach. Directors Bryon and Sammantha are available for wedding and event choreography, and the company has performed at corporate parties, flash mobs, weddings, and quinciñeras. While rooted in Latin dance, they can adapt choreography to multiple genres.
Online Bachata classes are available through mydanceportal.com and the TodosX app, with new combo and pattern breakdowns in each video. Monthly class packages and drop-in options provide flexibility for students.
What to expect
Your first visit
Drop in for a Monday or Tuesday in-person class at Danzhaus Dance Center and expect a one-hour session mixing footwork and partner combinations, led by experienced instructors. All levels welcome, no partner needed—come ready to move and learn material you can use on the social dance floor.
