About this studio
Jorge Talquenca Tango is an Argentine tango studio in Vienna's 2nd district, run by Jorge Talquenca, who was born and raised in Argentina and has spent his life travelling and discovering the world of dance. He has performed in theatre plays and created experimental art experiences before settling in Vienna to teach tango. The studio is designed with plenty of space and light, creating what Talquenca describes as "the right tango atmosphere" for comfortable, focused learning.
The studio runs a fixed weekly schedule across four class levels. Beginners meet every Monday from 18:00–19:00 and learn the fundamentals of tango along with a short introduction to its origins and story. The intermediate class runs every Wednesday from 19:30–20:45 and is for dancers confident in the basics who want to refine their technique—expect a faster pace with more focus on posture, patterns and tempo. A technique class for leaders meets every Thursday from 18:30–19:30 for dancers who master tango but want to bring perfection and sophistication to the dancefloor. On Monday evenings, Talquenca runs 'La Practica del Lunes', an open studio session from 19:00–22:00 where students can practise in a social, unstructured setting.
Private classes are available on request for individuals or couples, with options for extended blocks. Morning sessions before 13:00 are available at reduced rates. Testimonials from students describe Talquenca as analytical and thorough while making learning enjoyable, and praise the practica as a friendly space to experiment and play.
