Kalalú - Dance School

Kalalú is a dance school in Sant Martí, Barcelona, specialising in Latin dance. The studio is directed by Angelo Mauricio Mejía and Montse González Pérez, known internationally for their experience in Latin dance. They teach salsa caleña, salsa cubana, bachata tradicional, afro, folklore and afro-cubano rhythms.

Angelo and Montse are teachers at several dance schools and continue training in folklore, afro, Cuban dance, ballet and contemporary. They have collaborated with artists including Lucrecia, Mixael & su Team, Junior Jein, Gran Combo and Victor Manuelle, and have performed at events such as Pride Barcelona and Fira dels Indians in Begur. The school emphasises quality teaching combined with vibrant performances, spreading dance culture across Barcelona.

Kalalú combines specialised instruction in caleño-style salsa, traditional bachata and afro rhythms with a philosophy of "baile con estilo y sentimiento" — dance with style and feeling. The school positions itself as a driver of urban salsa in Barcelona, offering both classes and entertainment at notable events. Angelo and Montse are finalists in international competitions, and the school holds the status of UNESCO CID member.

The studio welcomes students to experience Latin dance rhythms "with the hand of Kalalú", offering classes rooted in professional experience and cultural authenticity.

You'll join classes in salsa caleña, salsa cubana, bachata tradicional or afro, taught by internationally experienced instructors. The teaching combines technical expertise with emphasis on style and feeling.

Angelo Mauricio Mejía and Montse González Pérez direct the school. Both are known internationally for experience in Latin dance, teach at several dance schools, and continue training in folklore, afro, Cuban, ballet and contemporary styles. They are finalists in international competitions.
