About this studio
Kubáname is a Cuban dance school in Dresden dedicated to teaching salsa, bachata, son, cha-cha-cha and reggaeton. The studio was founded to bring Cuban dance, Caribbean character and a relaxed southern approach to the city. Salsa Cubana is the main focus of the course program, but the school offers breadth across traditional Cuban and Latin styles.
The teaching is led by Yorge, described in reviews as bringing an authentic Cuban warmth and encouragement to every class. His teaching partner Steffi provides attentive support to students. Testimonials emphasize the positive, energetic atmosphere they create — one student who began at 50 with no dance experience reported that Yorge and Steffi "made me into a dancer who doesn't want to leave the floor."
Courses run at beginner level (Salsa Básico I, Bachata Beginnerkurs) and the school makes clear that prior experience is not required. The FAQ states that if you start with Basico I, you learn everything you need. Many students join without a dance partner, and the school offers solutions: finding a partner in the first class, using their partner-matching board on the website, or being paired with an experienced dancer (at additional cost).
Beyond regular classes, Kubáname hosts the Salsa Party every second and last Saturday of the month. The school also runs workshops and organizes the Kubáname Festival, which in 2026 features live performance by Leoni Torres on 24 October with a gala evening.
The school accepts payment in cash or EC card (Giro) at the start of class, and offers a 10-class dance card. They also sell gift vouchers and provide training videos for students. The website includes a partner-matching forum and detailed educational content on Cuban music and dance history.
