About this studio

La Luz Dance Co teaches Latin dance in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Lumy is known for her attention to detail and supportive teaching style, dedicated to helping students grow in confidence, technique, and musicality.

The studio offers group classes at all levels—drop-in sessions and monthly series—designed to prepare you for real social dancing, not just choreography. You'll learn fundamentals, styling, musicality, and partnerwork. Private lessons and workshops with special guest instructors are also available. The teaching team includes Janayra Rivera, Clara Douglas, Hector Aranda, and Yaya Cardwell.

Weekly socials give you a chance to practice what you learn on the dance floor with dancers of all levels and a fun atmosphere. Classes are structured but high-energy, and the studio emphasizes a beginner-friendly, welcoming environment where everyone can learn at their own pace. The focus goes beyond steps to build solid technique, body movement, and real partner connection so you can dance with confidence anywhere.

If you want to deepen your Salsa On1 skills specifically, the studio recommends training with Clara Douglas, an incredible local instructor known for her strong technique, clear teaching style, and vibrant energy on the dance floor.
