About this studio

La Mambita has been Berlin's salsa hub since 1993. They started with Salsa cubana and brought the Los Angeles CrossBodyStyle to the city in 1999. Today they claim the longest tradition of any dance school in Berlin, with 32 years of experience behind a teaching philosophy centred on social dance—preparing you to dance at parties in Berlin and worldwide.

The school teaches Salsa Los Angeles & New York Style, Salsa cubana, Bachata, Kizomba, ChaChaChá, Standard/Latein, and Tango argentino. Classes run at all levels from beginner to advanced. Their emphasis is on learning these dances in authentic form. Beyond regular ongoing courses, they offer workshops, private lessons, and styled-movement classes (Lady Styling, Footwork, Body Movement) that work without a partner.

Classes are drop-in: you can join any time as a couple or as a single. If numbers don't pair evenly, instructors rotate partners so everyone can dance. Beginners don't need a partner to start—most find one in the beginner courses—but intermediate courses onwards benefit from bringing a fixed partner. Kizomba and Bachata are taught on a rotation principle. For workshops and intensives, they ask for paired registration but help with partner-finding if needed.

The studio occupies a spacious 150 sqm dance hall in Schöneberg (Kolonnenstraße 29), with a separate training room available for private lessons or solo practice. You can try a trial lesson for €10 any Monday at 18:00 (Salsa), or join open-door days twice yearly in January and September for free entry. All classes are cash-pay at the door; no card payments. Instructors speak English and teach bilingually on request.
