About this studio
LGTBAILAMOS is Spain's first salsa and bachata school designed specifically for the LGBTIQ+ community and their allies. Located on Calle Valverde, 10 in central Madrid—close to Gran Vía and steps from Chueca—the studio offers classes at all levels: from scratch (Desde Cero) through Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 for bachata, and up to Línea level for salsa.
Classes are structured around the principle of dancing without gender roles. You can choose to be a leader (guiding), follower (following), or versatile, breaking with traditional dance norms. Whether you come solo or with a partner, you'll find people to dance with; partner-switching is encouraged but never mandatory. Beginner classes teach basic steps and fundamental technique in a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere designed so you learn while enjoying yourself.
Beyond regular classes, LGTBAILAMOS organises CHUECOTECA—a social dancing event where you can practise what you've learned and connect with the wider community, known as "la Piña". The school welcomes anyone from the LGBTIQ+ community or allies, with no experience necessary. Classes cost from 39.95€ per month, and a trial class is available for 15 euros. The studio emphasises creating a safe space free of judgment, where diversity, respect and inclusion are paramount—a place to express yourself freely through dance, build friendships, and celebrate visibility and equality for the LGBTIQ+ community.
Currently the school offers only salsa and bachata, though they are working to introduce additional dance styles in future. The location is well served by public transport: Gran Vía metro (lines 1 and 5) and Callao metro (lines 3 and 5) are both nearby.
