About this studio
LOCO Valencia Salsa is a dance academy specializing in Cuban dance styles. Founded in 2021, the studio teaches Salsa Cubana (also known as Casino), Son Cubano, Rumba Guaguancó, Afro-Cubano, Reggaetón, and Rueda de Casino. The academy is located in Camins al Grau, Valencia.
Their core focus is Salsa Cubana, a style that emphasizes circular movements and intricate partner rotations rooted in Afro-Cuban rhythms. The academy describes it as energetic, passionate, and infused with the spirit of fun and joy characteristic of Cuban dance. Classes cover the distinctive footwork rotations, intricate turns, and rich movements that define the form.
Beyond Salsa Cubana, the studio offers instruction in Son Cubano, described as traditional Cuban music and dance with smooth, elegant movements combining Spanish guitar melodies with African percussion. Rumba Guaguancó is taught as an authentic Cuban dance embodying coquetry and fun, characterised by rapid movements and expressive gestures—a dialogue between male and female dancers. Afro-Cubano classes explore the rich variety of styles rooted in African traditions, often performed with live drums, offering spiritual and expressive connection to ancestral heritage. Reggaetón is also available, blending Latin rhythms with urban beats and featuring body isolations, quick movements, and attitude.
Rueda de Casino is taught as the social, circular form of Salsa Cubana where multiple couples dance in a circle, frequently changing partners under a leader's direction. The studio emphasizes teamwork, fun, and synchronisation.
The academy operates a structured one-and-a-half-year program designed to take students from beginner to competent dancer. They welcome both newcomers and those looking to refine existing skills. The studio maintains an Instagram presence where students can view classes, events, and the vibrant atmosphere of their Cuban salsa community. They can be reached via WhatsApp.
