About this studio
Los Angeles Bachata and Salsa Dance Academy teaches salsa and bachata through structured 10-week progressive courses. The academy offers seven core programmes: Salsa 101–104 and Bachata 101–103, each designed to build skills systematically from absolute beginner through advanced. All classes are taught by full-time professional dance instructors, not students or hobby instructors.
Salsa 101 covers basics including footwork (back-basic, cross-body lead, weight transfer), body movement (posture, isolations, hip rolls), and foundational partnering. The course promises you'll leave with confidence on the dance floor. Classes run over 10 weeks and include social outings outside the studio. Salsa 102 reinforces foundations while introducing new techniques to prepare you for intermediate work. Salsa 103, structured as four sub-levels (103a–103d) you can take in any order, teaches intermediate patterns and readiness for any dance floor. Salsa 104, a 6-week advanced course led by two professional instructors (a lead and a follow), focuses on advanced partnering only—no shines. Topics include leading with clarity, following effortlessly, musicality, ladies styling, and feeling and flavour.
Bachata 101 mirrors Salsa 101's beginner approach and also includes social dancing outside the studio. Bachata 102 builds foundational Sensual Bachata movements, intermediate traveling patterns, musicality (understanding rhythm and tempo), and creative footwork while partnering. Bachata 103, for high-intermediate to advanced dancers, covers advanced Sensual Bachata patterns, complex traveling patterns, deeper musicality, and creative partnering.
Classes meet at two locations: Balcony on Beverwil and West LA Academy of Dance Studio. Salsa 101 runs Thursdays 8:00–9:45pm or Sundays 7:30–9:15pm or Mondays 8:00–9:45pm. Salsa 102 runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Sundays 5:00–6:45pm. Salsa 103 runs Mondays 8:15–10:00pm. Bachata 101 runs Sundays 5:30–7:15pm. Bachata 102 runs Sundays 7:15–9:00pm. Private lessons are available for individuals and couples, conveniently hosted in West LA.
The studio is explicitly beginner-friendly. You do not need a partner—classes rotate partners throughout, giving you the chance to meet new people. All ages are welcome. The environment is described as safe, inclusive, and welcoming to LGBTIQA+ students. Free unlimited parking is available.

Your first visit
You'll join a group class of all skill levels in a supportive environment where everyone rotates partners. Beginner classes break down steps into fundamentals (footwork, body movement, partnering basics) over 10 weeks, and you'll also be taken out dancing socially outside the studio. No experience or partner required.
