About this studio
3rd Street Dance is one of Los Angeles' most established and visible dance studios, operating for over 40 years from a location on the south side of 3rd Street between Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Beverly Center. The studio occupies five custom-built dance studios, each fitted with sprung hardwood floors, wall-to-wall mirrors, excellent sound systems, abundant natural light, and air-conditioning. The studio has appeared on Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Dance Moms, various TV series, and commercials, and has provided moves for MTV and VH1 music videos.
The class programme is exceptionally deep. With multiple studios running classes simultaneously, 3rd Street Dance offers beginning through advanced levels across a wide range of styles: Ballroom, Latin, Swing, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Bachata, Cumbia, Bollywood, Belly Dance, Heels, Hip Hop, Kizomba and Zouk, Dance Fitness, and more. Beginner classes are welcoming and do not require prior experience, a partner, or special shoes—just comfortable clothing. Many students attend two or three times per week. The studio also runs dance bootcamps (3-hour intensive sessions), 4-week workshops, performance workshops in Bachata and Salsa, and specialized wedding first-dance bootcamps.
The teaching staff are professional dance instructors recognised as some of the best dancers in Los Angeles, many of whom work professionally in TV, film, and on stage. Instructors are hand-picked for superior skills, versatility, and ability to communicate clearly. Class sizes are deliberately kept small to allow individual attention and a more intimate learning environment than competing studios.
Private lessons are available Monday–Thursday 5pm–10pm and Saturday 10am–5pm, with other times by request. The studio offers four spacious private studios for lessons, with options for private room (undivided attention) or shared room (budget-friendly). Private lessons can also be conducted in-home or via Zoom. Wedding services include first-dance choreography, father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, and bridal party dances, with over 40 years of experience in wedding, anniversary, Quinceañera, corporate party, and prom choreography.
The studio accepts studio rentals for filming commercials, TV shows, movies, rehearsals, and auditions. Event hosting is available for corporate events, birthdays, anniversaries, and dance parties, with atmospheric lighting, seating, tables for food and drinks, and optional instructor-led dance lessons. Drop-in group classes are available at any time, and the studio provides online sign-up on its own website (preferred over third-party apps).
What to expect
Your first visit
Walk in for a drop-in class at any level, or book ahead online. Classes are 50 minutes. The studio is small and intimate, with plenty of mirrors and good light. Instructors focus on fundamentals and create a welcoming, supportive environment. You do not need a partner or special shoes, just comfortable clothing.
