About this studio
Málaga Swing is a swing dance school founded and run by Miguel Moreno de la Rúa, who has been teaching since 2014. The school positions itself as a reference point for swing instruction in Málaga, offering classes at all levels with a teaching approach that adapts to each student's learning pace. The method emphasises technique and foundational dance skills so you can learn with confidence.
Classes focus on developing connection techniques, musicality, and essential figures that let you enjoy dancing from your first session. Weekly classes and monthly workshops are held at Centro Cultural La Térmica (Centro Cívico de Málaga), where you'll learn the basic steps and fundamentals of Lindy Hop and Balboa before progressing to more complex movements. Classes run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with different time slots available depending on your group level.
Groups are organised by level and student progress, ensuring solid development. The school also organises social dance events on weekends, giving you a chance to practise what you've learned and meet other dancers from Málaga and beyond. In addition to regular classes, Málaga Swing runs weekend intensives and specialised workshops.
Málaga Swing has collaborated with major cultural venues and organisations in the city, including La Térmica, Muelle 1, La Cochera Cabaret, MAF (Málaga de Festival), ELCAMM (El Centro de Artes y Música Moderna), and Fundación Málaga, establishing dance as a cultural offering in the city. The school also hosts Festival Costa del Swing, with the eighth edition scheduled for 15–17 January 2027.
Beyond the main school, Málaga Swing created a separate initiative in 2015 called Málaga Baila Balboa to promote and spread Balboa dancing specifically across the city. The school also runs a shop selling dance shoes and clothing.
