About this studio
Maracas Latin American Cantina is a bar, restaurant and dance venue on Chapel Street in Salford, a five-minute walk from Salford train station. The business grew out of 'Salsa En Manchester', a Friday night event that built a loyal following across the city. When the founders decided to establish a permanent home, they opened Maracas as their vision of a window to Latin America in Manchester.
Every Friday, the venue runs a structured evening: Salsa and Bachata dance lessons run from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, followed by Fiesta Latina — a full dance floor night — from 9:30pm to 2:30am. Saturdays are free-entry dance nights featuring salsa, bachata, reggaeton and merengue, with DJs keeping the energy high. The venue also hosts live music nights showcasing local bands and musicians performing salsa, bachata and other Latin sounds.
The space combines a full Latin American kitchen, a cocktail bar, and a dance floor. You can eat authentic homemade dishes, explore their cocktail menu, and dance to live and DJ-led music. The team describes their mission as offering "a genuine and authentic sight of Latin America, from the warmth and welcoming that identifies our people, to the vast variety of flavours, rhythms and traditions that the Latin American culture has to offer."
The venue is dog-friendly and has disabled access. Parking is available on Chapel Street; charges apply Monday to Saturday 8am–6pm (not on public holidays). It's located by the Salford train station or a short walk across Blackfriars Bridge if you're coming from Manchester city centre.
