About this studio
MAsalsa Dance Studio is a landmark school for salsa and bachata in Santiago de Surco, Peru. Since 2010, the studio has built a reputation for quality teaching and North American methodology. They teach all styles of salsa—linear, Cuban, On1 and On2—alongside bachata and kizomba, described as Portuguese tango and a sensual African style that emerged in the 1970s.
The studio offers classes at three levels. Beginners learn footwork, free steps, coordination and agility, building simple combinations for quick memorization. Intermediate students develop refined technique, find their own style, gain fluidity with the music, and master spins and their variations. Advanced dancers work with choreographed steps within full routines and elevate their overall performance.
Specialist courses include Salsa Ladies Style, an exclusive programme for women focused on feminine technique, body dissociation, posture and sensuality alongside confidence-building and coordination; Salsa Shines, exploring free steps and individual musical interpretation without a partner; and Kizomba fundamentals. The studio emphasizes that no previous experience or dance background is required—only an open mind. You don't need a partner; the school has many students eager to learn, and rotations happen among all participants.
Group classes at beginner level meet once a week. Private lessons are available via WhatsApp or Zoom in 45-minute sessions for one person or couples. The studio also runs challenge courses—quick 30-second routine learning in salsa and bachata. Virtual classes allow current and former students to review fundamentals online through their structured syllabus.
The school's teaching philosophy centres on making dance dynamic and fun so students feel confident from their first class. Through MAsalsa's courses, you gain technique and the cadence needed to become a skilled dancer in a short time, alongside a deeper appreciation for the art and culture.
