About this studio
NON STOP BACHATA is a dance school and social venue in Copenhagen's Nørrebro neighbourhood, based at Skt. Johannesgården on Blegdamsvej. The school teaches bachata across five levels — beginner, improver, intermediate 1, intermediate 2, and ladystyle — with classes conducted in English. Each class runs 75 minutes and combines individual practice of steps and movements with partner work, using partner rotation to give you experience with different dancers.
The school's heartbeat is its Monday night event: a drop-in workshop from 7–8pm followed by a social from 8–10:45pm, now described as one of Scandinavia's biggest and most popular bachata events. This weekly gathering grew from a private 16-person event on 3 May 2016 into a thriving community that moved from Østerbrohuset to its current larger home at Skt. Johannesgården in 2018. Beyond Mondays, NON STOP BACHATA runs bootcamps and parties on selected Saturdays, and organises free outdoor bachata events across Copenhagen during summer.
The teaching team is experienced and accomplished. Jens Kvist, the founder who began dancing bachata in 2013 and started teaching in 2016, is recognised as one of Copenhagen's most experienced bachata teachers for his clear, straightforward instruction and inclusive atmosphere. Michelle Borchardt brings over 10 years of background in different dance styles and has taught bachata since 2024, focusing on connection with your partner, musicality and playfulness. VJ is a certified bachata professional with over 12 years of teaching experience and is known for witty humour and blending fun with precision. Andrea Diana, who took 1st place at the Bachata King Festival in 2022 (Greece) and 2nd at the Rising Stars Competition in 2023 (Amsterdam), and holds a certification from Sara Panero for ladystyling, teaches with sensual smoothness, strong musicality and creative ladystyling in a warm, supportive atmosphere. Natalia teaches ladystyle classes alongside Andrea.
Classes are held Mondays at 5:30–6:45pm for beginners (taught by Jens Kvist and Michelle Borchardt), with improver, intermediate 1, intermediate 2, and ladystyle classes also scheduled weekly. The beginner course runs for 7 weeks starting 7 September, with no class on 12 October. You don't need a partner to join, and you can dance with a fixed partner or rotate. First-time students arrive 10–15 minutes early; instructors will check you on the participant list and the class begins on time. Each class repeats instructions from the previous week. Student groups on Facebook allow you to access videos from class to practise at home and coordinate with classmates.
The venue is in a dedicated dance hall at Skt. Johannesgården with an open wardrobe (unattended on Mondays, attended on Saturdays). Parking is free if you park with your car's front or rear facing Skt. Johannesgården; other spots have strict rules and risk fines. A lost-and-found system uses the wardrobe on Mondays and a large green box outside on Saturdays.

Studio history
Jens Kvist founded NON STOP BACHATA after beginning to dance bachata in 2013 and starting to teach in 2016. The school began with a private 16-person social on 3 May 2016. At that time, bachata was a minor presence in Copenhagen — salsa dominated and bachata was a rare break track at salsa parties. Jens was inspired by a room marked "NON STOP BACHATA" at a salsa festival in Madrid. The weekly Monday event started at Østerbrohuset once a month, then twice monthly, growing so popular it became difficult to enter. In 2018, NON STOP BACHATA moved to the larger dance hall at Skt. Johannesgården and expanded to every Monday. The school now operates as a thriving, growing dance community with a dedicated teaching team.
