About this studio
Philadelphia Dance Lessons has been teaching partner dancing since 2014, operating from a newly renovated studio in East Falls at 4002 Ridge Ave. The studio is run by Jesse Smith-Dow, who has more than sixteen years of professional dance instruction experience. Smith-Dow studied Mechanical Engineering at Temple University before pursuing his passion for ballroom and Latin dancing. He began his teaching career at Arthur Murray Dance Studios, then moved to Society Hill Dance Academy, where he taught, competed in competitions, and performed throughout the Philadelphia area before opening his own studio.
The studio offers private instruction in Ballroom, Latin, and Salsa dancing, tailored to all levels from complete beginners to experienced dancers. Your first private lesson is complimentary, designed as an introduction to get you moving on the dance floor and to develop a program suited to your needs. If you're already experienced, they'll conduct a dance evaluation to find the right fit.
Group classes are held regularly and are Newcomer level only. Drop-in classes cost $30 per person or $50 per couple. The studio also hosts monthly parties for $10 per person for non-students. You're welcome to come alone or bring a partner—all are welcome.
Beyond regular classes, Philadelphia Dance Lessons specialises in wedding dance preparation, helping couples learn their first dance and impress their guests on the big day. They offer semi-private lessons for groups of friends or colleagues, in-home lessons at your location, and even perform at special events. The studio provides original choreography and creative performances as part of their services.
The space is available for venue rentals for birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, bachelorette parties, small weddings, rehearsal space, yoga classes, personal training sessions, and other special events. The studio has a sound and light setup, a fridge and microwave for guest convenience, a bathroom with a baby changing table, and ample street parking. Table and chair rentals are available.
