About this studio

River City Rhythm is built on over 50 years of dance history. Karen Horton opened the studio in 1970, and in 2024 it was reimagined as River City Rhythm—keeping the roots and reputation while reshaping the experience around what matters: connection, joy, and growth.

The studio welcomes dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. Whether you're taking first steps or working toward big moments, you'll find a place here. Classes run across the 2026–2027 season starting 10 August, with a structured calendar that includes breaks for Labor Day, HCDE fall, winter and spring breaks, and Thanksgiving. An open house runs 1–4 pm on 2 August for anyone curious about what class might fit.

The teaching philosophy is clear: dance should feel good. The studio focuses on the joy of moving rather than chasing perfection, while maintaining high standards and an encouraging, welcoming environment. Corrections and feedback are framed as part of learning, not criticism. Over time, dancers build awareness and confidence—skills that extend far beyond the studio walls.

Recitals anchor the calendar, with a dress rehearsal on 2 June and the main recital on 5 June. The studio operates as a true community space where dancers lift each other up, celebrating progress at every level. You can claim a 7-day class pass to try it out, or contact the studio directly if you're unsure which class suits you.
