About this studio
Salsa Freedom has been teaching Cuban salsa in Manchester since 2008. Founded by Jordan Theodor, the studio has grown into one of Manchester's most welcoming dance schools, with classes running throughout the week across multiple venues in the city centre.
Jordan has been dancing from a very young age and is deeply dedicated to sharing his skills and knowledge. He has taught across Manchester City Centre, Trafford, Salford, Stockport and Cheshire, and has also taught across Europe. Jordan's mission is to get everyone dancing quickly and stress-free, and he is known as a friendly, approachable instructor with attention to detail, suitable for anyone who wants to be a social or serious salsa dancer.
You can drop in to group classes seven days a week. Drop-in group classes cost £12 per person for 1 hour (cash only) and run at three locations: Manchester 235 Casino (Tuesdays), Deansgate House on Deansgate (Tuesdays and Sundays), and The Castlefield Hotel on Liverpool Road (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). Classes are structured by level — Beginners, Intermediate/Advanced, and New York Salsa On2 — but all levels are welcome, and you do not need to bring a partner. The school teaches Cuban Salsa in Rueda De Casino format, where couples dance in a circle, moves are called, and partners rotate frequently. This partner rotation helps you learn with different abilities and accelerates progress through repetition and variety.
The team includes instructor Jordan Theodor and assistants Azura, Phoebe, Jiyan, Moe and Ovi, along with student assistants. Facilities include changing rooms, showers, toilets, lockers and a water fountain. Every Friday after class, students visit a Latino club where 100 people gather and dance together, making it easy to extend your dancing into the city's social scene.
Private lessons are available for one-to-one tuition, hen-do parties, wedding first-dance choreography, private parties, and corporate events. The studio also offers Salsa hen-do packages (approximately 2 x 40-minute classes) at £20 per person with a minimum booking of 10 people, and can arrange performances followed by taster classes for birthdays, anniversaries and corporate events.
