Salzburg Academy for Dance Arts (SADA): Summer Dance Intensive "Phoenix"

Salzburg Academy for Dance Arts (SADA) is a vocational dance academy dedicated to the long-term artistic and professional development of aspiring dancers through structured, high-standard training. An initiative of Dance Vision Salzburg, the academy was developed to address a training phase historically underserved in the city: professional dance education for dancers under 18, embedded within a coherent pedagogical and artistic system.

SADA's educational approach emphasises continuity, artistic responsibility, and disciplined working practices. Training is understood not as short-term preparation but as a sustained developmental process supporting technical precision, physical integrity, and artistic clarity. The academy's core offering is the Dance Vision Professional Programme, a full-time vocational pathway combining technical training, rehearsal practice, and artistic development. Dance Fundamentals – First Step provides an introductory foundation for younger dancers beginning their formal training.

Each summer, SADA hosts Phoenix – Summer Dance Intensive, a concentrated two to three week training programme delivered within a company-style framework and culminating in stage performance. This intensive allows participants to experience professional working rhythms, collaborative processes, and performance responsibility within a focused timeframe. The academy also offers ChoreoCraft, providing tailored choreography and coaching within specific artistic and professional contexts.

Training takes place at Probehaus Salzburg in Salzburg-Gnigl, which features large-scale studio spaces, dance-ready surfaces, greenbox and media capability, production lighting control, changing rooms and showers. Office hours run Monday to Friday 10:00–18:00, with training typically from 11:00 onwards (closed weekends and public holidays). The venue is accessible via S-Bahn line S3 (Salzburg Sam) and multiple trolleybus lines. SADA is supported by the City of Salzburg.

SADA is a non-residential vocational academy focused exclusively on dance excellence. You arrange your own academic education and housing independently. Training is full-time and intensive, structured around professional working practices and artistic development.
