About this studio
San Francisco Tango teaches Argentine tango, Cuban salsa, and Afro-Cuban dance through the San Mateo Community College District at two locations: Skyline College in San Bruno and Cañada College in Redwood City. Instruction is led by Ken Delmar.
Classes run in semester blocks. In fall 2026, Tango Argentino meets Fridays 6:00–9:00 PM at Cañada College, with four levels (I–IV) available. Cuban Salsa meets Mondays 6:00–9:00 PM at Skyline College, also with four progressive levels. Afro Cuban Dance meets Saturdays 10:00 AM–1:10 PM at Cañada College in four levels. All levels are welcome and no partner is required.
Classes are structured to allow progression: you are advised to enrol in the lowest level of your chosen style, even if you have prior experience, so you can access more classes in future semesters. Registration happens through the colleges' online system (WebSmart) using course registration numbers provided for each level and style.
Cost is kept low through the college system. San Mateo County residents who declare a major receive free classes for five years as part of a grant-funded pilot programme. Non-residents pay $64. Students need only to bring shoes of their choice.
Ken Delmar can be reached by phone or email for questions about registration, late enrolment, or class details. The site also offers class handouts and maintains a resource section on tango poetry.
