About this studio
SHDansa teaches Lindy Hop, Jazz Solo and Salsa (Cuban timba and son) in the Sants district of Barcelona, at El Magatzem on Carrer de Violant d'Hongria. The school runs a structured timetable across four weeknights with classes at different levels, from absolute beginner through to advanced. The 26/27 academic year begins 7 September.
Lindy Hop is the core offering, with four levels of progression. Lindy Hop 1 covers basic steps, partner connection and swing rhythm in a welcoming environment and is open to complete beginners. Lindy Hop 2 builds on fundamentals like the Swing Out, Inside Turn, Frankie's Sixes, Tack Turn and kicks, adding variations and more advanced technique. Lindy Hop 3 works with dancers who have mastered the basics and want to explore rhythmic variations, phrasing and musicality. Lindy Hop 4 is for advanced dancers seeking rhythmic variations, advanced connection and musicality at medium and fast tempos.
Jazz Solo is offered at three levels. Jazz Solo Inicial welcomes complete beginners and teaches basic steps, rhythms and signature movements. Jazz Solo Mitjà (intermediate) works with dancers who have a foundation and want to develop musicalité, coordination and creativity through varied rhythms, signature steps and short choreographies. Jazz Solo Avançat (advanced) covers complex rhythms, advanced steps, demanding choreography, musicalité and improvisation.
The school operates with a philosophy that all dancers learn both leader and follower roles, so you can attend alone. First-timers can drop in for a single class at 25€, with that fee credited against a monthly pass. Monthly membership costs 60€ for unlimited access to all classes (subject to capacity), or you can take a trimester at 165€. July intensives run in three-part series on specific Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (19:30–21:00) covering social tips, salsa for swing dancers, and Lindy Hop from zero. The school also runs Barswingona, a swing festival held at Easter each year since 1998, featuring international dancers and bands, with classes in Lindy Hop and Jazz Solo.
