The school specialises in Lindy Hop, Swing Tanz, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, Shim Sham, Boogie Woogie and Rock 'n' Roll for beginners and advanced dancers alike.
Classes range from free trial sessions (Schnupperkurse) and crash courses to regular beginner classes and weekend workshops. You can take private lessons on a one-to-one basis or as a couple, either at the studio or at your own location, available 24/7. Beginner courses run daily with entry available for singles or pairs at €29, while weekend workshops cost €15. Private lessons are €39.
Swing Away hosts regular social dancing (Social Dance) four times a week across its locations: Mondays and Wednesdays in Altona, and Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays in Barmbek. Each social includes a free trial class at 19:00, followed by dancing from 22:00 onwards (until 23:00 on Wednesdays, until midnight on Friday and Saturday). Entry to the social dances is on a donation basis.
The school maintains a calendar of all Lindy Hop and swing dance events in Hamburg through the New Swing Generation, and runs a WhatsApp and Signal community group with over 1,100 members. Classes are designed for adults, seniors and students, with no partner or prior experience required to start.
